Srinagar, July 08 (KNO) : National Conference Youth National Conference provincial vice president Ahsan Pardesi on Monday decried the highway ban as regressive, saying the reckless ban has inadvertently pushed the common people to wall. Ahsan while censuring the governor administration for coming with sporadic bans on the normal movement of traffic on national highway said, “The Sole National highway connecting the valley with the rest of country is already fraught with underdevelopment; quite often we see a drizzle of precipitation obstruct the normal movement of traffic on it. The highway is already insufficient a link to cater to the demands of ever growing population of the valley. Needless to say how important the highway is for the landlocked people of the Kashmir, all this seems too little to budge the incumbent administration.” In a statement issued to KNO, Ahsan said the measure has caused undue inconvenience to the commuters, traders. “It is not just the trader’s fraternity which is bearing the brunt of ‘Tuglaqi Firman’. Every section of society is hit by the diktat.  Coming up with such reckless orders seems have become the convention of governor administration. How can a government possibly shut its eyes to the woes of a whole lot of population by coming with these insane orders? The diktat clears reveals the disdain the incumbent governor administration has for the common people of Kashmir. Above and beyond the move has inadvertently hit the studies of students; patients find it difficult to reach their destination across the country.  Coming up with such an unmeasured move in a spurt of movement has hit the tourism sector as well. The hoteliers, the house boat owners has pinned high hopes on the undergoing summer season; unfortunately the incumbent governor administration is not inclined to help the local tourism industry to thrive.” “Such intermittent bans will push the already aggrieved people especially the youth to wall. The need of the hours called for initiating an aggressive dialogue with the stake holders in the state. On the contrary the government is busy in politicking and issuing uncalled for Firmans. I believe such measures will have an erroneous impact on the psyche of the youth, who already stand disenchanted and disenfranchised due to the absence of a popularly elected government in the state,” he added. “We are not living in a colony, such diktats does not behoove a democratic country like that of ours. Kashmiris have always welcomed the Yatris with open arms; Yatris were able to perform yatra in the height of militancy. Locals have always gone a step further to support the Yatra, never has a yatri received a scratch. Why it is that such measure are put in place?” “I request the incumbent governor administration to revoke the ban as soon as possible. Yatra continues being successful and peaceful because of the support of locals and less because of the security forces.” (KNO)
